Hi Mark,

that sounds a little bit strange. As far as I know Egon joined the Uboat-arm in April 1918 where he served until the end of war. By the end he became commander of UB 79, a training boat.
The cause of his death requires further investigation.

I stay tuned and look forward to your next post.
