U-34 and bioluminescence

Hello,
I read in a french article (Découverte N° 329 JUIL-SEPT 2005) that in 1918, the U-boat U-34 was detected and sunk due to its luminescent wake.
Apparently by passing through waters which contained lots of bioluminescent organisms, the submarine was seen by the boat who finally destroyed it.
Unluckily, this article does not provide any references.

On [www.uboat.net] it is, on the contrary,
mentioned that it is unknown what happened to this U-boat.

Could someone provide me with the truth ?

And if U-34 was not detected (and subsequently) sunk through disturbing bioluminescent sea creatures, has there been a well documented example of this indeed happening during submarine wars?

Thanks a lot for your eventual help and hints,

All the Best
