I understand that rich tin miners and ordinary folks in Malaya 1914 donated money to buy up to 90 planes (initially spotter later fighters) for the Royal Flying Corps. These were identified by donors to a specific plane (on paper) at time of $$ collection and named, example Khoo Cheow Teong donated $12,500 towards "Malaya no. 15" etc. I wonder if any physical plane was ever marked " Malaya #15" ?
If so, can anyone recall any such Malaya planes in action over any part of the war? Would be great to know of names of pilots and history of any squadron, thanks
