Sure, it should be possible to determine which U-boat attacked the two schooners. The information you provided contains at least two inconsistencies — the date is given as March 23, 1918 in British Vessels Lost at Sea and you say that the schooners were either anchored or sailing towards Littlehampton. Because of that, I'll see about getting the official statements about the attack, and then we can go from there.
