Hello Thomas and folks,

as I am very interested in the submarines of the 1 WW I interrogated a bit on the fate of this sub and found out that it was commanded by the famous officer v. Saltzwedel, who had commanded UC 71 before he was commisioned to UB 81. The very sad story about the loss of this sub is, that the crew was able to rise the bow of the sub to the surface after it had struck a mine at the stern sectioned and had subsequently sunk to the bottom of the sea at about 90 feet.
Some crewmembers rescued themself by crawling through one of the torpedo tubes and called for help by firing signal flares. A british boat came by to help but inadvertently pushed the bow below the sea and drowned the rest of the crew.

As far as I kwow, this ship is registered as a wargrave by the British admirality and may not be dived any longer. But if things have changed, I would be happy if you could share you findings with all the other users.
