Hello Stavros, Simon, Michael ...
o.k., UB 50 it is, I have seen the original war diary years ago and I can provide the times given there:
08.25h getaucht, Bucht von Kalamata eingelaufen – Sonderbericht !
18.35h aufgetaucht, Mission erfüllt, abgelaufen
As Michael wrote, the war diary is more detailed as of the movements and sightings usually, but just for the other days. As this was an special misson I'm sure the entries in this case were kept very short intentionally. You have to keep in mind that several copies from the diary were distributed amongst the flotillas, high command, training units etc., I think 5 or 6 copies... It would have been very difficult to keep this secret with so many people getting involved in reading about it :-)
So the "Sonderbericht" mentioned here like the one from UB 68 wasn't kept within the diary, most possibly just one copy send to ... (?)
I must admit that I can't tell you the exact file number of the W/T message from UB 68 „Ballen ohne Schwierigkeiten am vorgesehenen Platz ausgeladen“, as this note from me is several years old. The message could have been sent on the same night of course, or possibly on March 2nd, as UB 68 was forced to abort the mission because of the total failure of the port electric engine.
You should know that these U-Boats were destined to carry out an ordinary patrol, lasting 3 to 4 weeks, and just on their departure from the Adriatic went to the Bay of Arcadia.
UB 50 for example returned on April 16th to Cattaro.
The U-Boats were to valuable for torpedo work to use them "just" for the landing of agents.
