Hello,
At the end of May 1917 the American oil tanker « ss Silver Shell » sighted 4 U-boote off the coast of Sardinia (Mediterranean Sea).
On May 30, the 4th attacked the tanker at about 2 p.m., but the «ss Silver Shell» riposted and fired 35 shots. One of them struck the sub amidships and sunk, reported the New York Time d.d. June 28, 1917.
Any info about this « sunken » U-boot ?
Thanks and Regards.
