I am sure many of you will be aware that the wreck of HMS/M G7 was discovered some distance off the Farne Islands in an area known to divers as the Farnes Deep but to historians as the Longstone-Lista Light route.
The wreck has substantial damage to her stern. Could be the result of a collision could also be the result of triggering a mine. There were no British coastal minefields this far North. My Spindler chart is fuzzy but Stizze 3, Bad 4 does show minefield 41 East of the Farne Islands. I can just about make out UC50 something but can anyone identify the U-boat which laid this field ?
