U118 Dated Damaged Periscope

Hi all,

I have the top part of a periscope which has been damaged and dawn off. It comes from a group of items belonging to the engineering officer.

It is stamped "U118 20.6.18" I am trying to find out the significance of the date.

Can anyone help or suggest the best way / source to find out?
