Hello. I am excited to announce that the second edition of 'Into the Danger Zone' has been published. Whether you have read the first edition of the book or not, the second edition is substantially revised and expanded. There is nearly 1/3 additional new accounts and material, and nearly 100 additional photographs and images, compared to the original version. This edition is hardcover, with a dustjacket, and totals 478 pages. The title has been changed, and now more accurately reflects the content of the book: 'Into the Danger Zone: The Lusitania, First Battle of the Atlantic, and Liners During the Great War.'

Here is the description from the book flap:

"What was it like to undertake a sea crossing during the Great War, when dangers at sea were greater than they ever had been before? What was it like to survive the sinking of the Lusitania, or another of the thousands of ships and liners that were attacked or sent to the bottom of the sea during those four-and-a-half years?

Through the pages of this book, historians Tad Fitch and Michael Poirier craft a compelling tale of adventure, heroism, sacrifice, and tragedy; they show how the war at sea was intertwined with the war on land, how tactics evolved and how, all too often, humane behavior took a back seat to the harsh requirements of all-out worldwide warfare. Through Into the Danger Zone, you will relive the First Battle of the Atlantic through the eyes of those who were there, and over a century later you can see how the stable world of the nineteenth century unraveled."

Those here will be very interested to note that the book is heavily focused around rare and previously unpublished first-hand accounts. This new edition has much more content telling the perspective of the U-boat crews, as well as those of their victims. It is a balanced and objective retelling of the events. The Lusitania section of the book has many more accounts added. There are dozens of images of U-boats as well, with many rare and exclusive. Information on nearly 80 individual U-boats is included in the book.

We feel that no other book has captured this aspect of World War I in such depth and on such a personal level. We hope that you will enjoy it and find it of interest.
