<HTML>Hi again Adam,
I believe if anyone or anything need to be set straight here, it is Mr. J.M. and not the record. I wonder, why do people such as J.M. consider themselves expert enough to comment in public on this subject. Certainly, he can\'t possibly have gathered all that experience in filming U571??? :-)
Have to correct you on your statement: Uboatmen were not even allowed to have membership in any party....:
Officers in the Navy were not when Hitler came to power in \'33. This regulation from the old 100,000 man Reichswehr, was NOT officially recinded during the Third Reich (to my recollection) but was not enforced since the outbreak of WW2.
This regulation did not apply to ratings and/or subcoms. Prior to 9/39 only volunteers in the Uboat arm - no draftees. Rgds, RB</HTML>
