Hi all,
I found a claim to the effect that 3 days prior to her loss, U-73 had been rammed while still at shallow depth by a destroyer after torpedoing the John S. Copley in convoy GUS.24, losing her vierling in the impact.
Does anyone have confirmation of this occurrence and the identity of the ramming ship? The incident does not seem to be mentioned in any of my sources.
Thanks, brian
