Please help identify photo?

I have an old photo with members of a German U-Boat posing on the deck. I would like to know more about the photo. The only clue I am able to see is a small ID in the lower left hand corner of the photo (B1256). This ID does not match any of the registeries I seen online, which all begin with "U", not "B" as seen in my photo.

Can someone help me with this please?
