I know this thread has gone cold, but I'm just writing in case you are still at this email address. There are a few of us researching the Abosso, principally Lucas Bruijn, whose uncle was lost on the ship. My grandfather also lost his life. Lucas has unearthed a significant amount of info, though the details of the receipt of Abosso's ssss signal by the Admiralty are missing. I was intrigued by your comment about Churchill keeping this sinking and that of other ships at the time quiet; do you have a reference for it?
