I am a U-boat history enthusiast and avid diver. Recently (finally) I was able to dive the U-352 wreck off North Carolina, USA. During my dive, I photographed an item that I am unable to identify. The object is in the sand against the wreck's port side (the wreck itself lists about 45 degrees to starboard.)

I was hoping perhaps that someone here could shed some light on this mystery or, if not, perhaps knows of a person or resource who can assist.
Thank you for reading!
