A very great family history you have there. I do believe I have read about your uncle before. I have just finished reading a very interesting bookabout the last attempt of the Luftwaffe to stop the USAAF bomber runs. I\'m sure you maybe familiar with this. it was a suicide type of mission that involved the ramming of USAAF bombers by German aircraft (especially the Me262).
Your uncle would have been proud of that final attempt and the high courage of the Luftwaffe men as it was strictly a volunteer mission only. The most amazing part is that 95 percent or more of the Luftwaffe pilots at the time (which was around 3,000-4,000 pilots) volunteered with no hesitation. \"Hajo\" Hermann was himself amazed at this!

A very good book to read indeed. It reminded me of the ramming command ratified by the BdU for the u-boats during the invasion of Normandy. I\'m sure the U-boot men would have volunteered for such an order as well. That is the spirit of love for your country and family. The book stresses that the effort was not related to fanatical Nazi beliefs (even though Goebbels pushed a lot of it on the pilots before their mission), but rather to protect the cities where the families of the pilots lived. The propaganda meetings for Luftwaffe pilots at the time were voluntary and no one really showed up at them.
