<HTML>Yet again, I\'m not interested in the exact location of the wreck or of diving on the wreck. FINAL REPORT ON THE LOCATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF THE WORLD WAR II GERMAN SUBMARINE U-869 is the name of the document. I asked where I could try and obtain a copy to read for historical information, not so I can go dive the wreck to get artifacts. I just wanted to learn more about the expedition and the search for the U-boat\'s identity

From the Nova special, as I remember it was a 6 hour boat journey to get to the site. In other words it is pretty far off the coast. Is it in international waters?
You could try contacting the divers who went to the wreck via Nova.
But I suspect that Willy is right and they may want to keep it private.
Many wrecks, not just U-boats, have been pillaged. The Titanic is a high profile example: the original discoverer has since kept the exact location of other finds, such as the Yokrtown, confidential to prevent repeats.
The Andrea Doria, for example, has been pleasure dived and bones and other objects stolen.
I understand that the Japanese government is concerned about the attempts to raise gold from the wreck of the I-52 as well, both because of the grave site issue, and because they claim ownership of the gold....</HTML>
