<HTML>Hi George -

Do, please, if you should turn anything up.

The Memorial ceremony for Eck, or whatever it was officially called, must have been a pretty controversial affair at the time, only nine years after the end of the war and even less after the war-trials; and it was attended apparently by 3000 u-boat crew-members. But what happened at it ? Did they have speeches - if so what about ? A march ? I can`t believe they all just had a glass of pils together and went home.

And why is that the *only* mention I have found of `Teddy` Suhren, (of U-564 and ex-FdU Norway, so presumably close behind Dönitz in seniority) in the postwar period ? What did he get up to after (or before !) that ? And there must presumably have been some reaction to the memorial ceremony - from the rest of Germany, from the British ?

Puzzled !

Best wishes - and thanks for your posts

Frank
