<HTML>Hi James,
Try: The U-boat War in the Atlantic 1939-1945, ISBN 0-11-772603-6
This is perhaps one of the more interesting books to read that captures the German viewpoint. It was written by Gunter Hessler, a staff officer to the Flag Officer U-boats during the latter part of the war. (Hessler was also Doenitz\'s son-in-law) (a Lieutenant zur See, now Professor, Jurgen Rohwer was responsible for putting together the statistical details)
Hessler wrote an analysis of the German U-boat offensive shortly after the war at the request of the British Ministry of Defense. The document was originally classified, but has since been declassified and was published by Her Majesty\'s Stationery Office in 1989.
For obvious reasons, no mention is made of anything to do with the Allied codebreaking success of Enigma.
This book is no longer in print, but copies are readily available on the used book market.
