There was a U-Boat that was supposed to pick-up POWS (escaped from Ontario camp...possibly Bowmanville) and return them to Germany. Canadian warships (Desmond Piers was one commander) were there to foil the attempt. Can't recall the specific location of the foiled pick-up.
