I would have thought the reverse, that the pig boats tied up port side because the anchor was fitted on the starboard side. You imply that the anchor is fitted starboard because the US boats tend to always tie up port side to. Does not make too much sense to me!
The question of berthing, unless specifically ordered by port authorities should be left to the skipper and pilot taking into consideration weather and tidal conditions.
So 'san fairy ann' which side the anchor is on all other vessels having two.
Any U-Boat Commanders left who are able to comment?
