<HTML>A while ago I borrowed a book by Bernard Edwards called "The Merchant Navy goes to war". It contains several detailed accounts of survivors of sinkings, from the moment their ship was hit, to their eventual rescue. As we would expect, their stories are usually quite harrowing.
And yes, the overwhelming opinion on pemmican was that it is disgusting.
Thanks for the info on Poon Lim, Ken - I had read I brief mention of his tale somewhere else, I think he must have set the record for endurance of a survivor in WW2?
