<HTML>Hi Ying,
When Lothar von Arnauld de la Periere was commander of the cruiser Emden between 1928 and 1930, an incident happened.
A read duster was hoisted.
Coming back, a commission of inquiry was installed and he was retired in September 1931. That\'s why von Arnauld went to work in Turkey as instructor on the naval academy.
So he could not be appointed in 1935 as leader of the U-boote
He was reactivated only in September 1939.</HTML>
