Yes it is a bit of a mystery. My Italian friend unearthed a letter from the British to the Italians admitting that the Hurricane and the Periwinkle were too far East to have sunk the Marcello & as you know I have found that the Montomery did not claim success. What I cannot find out is if any U-boats reported an attempted ramming on the 24th February [or on the 1st March 41 when the Merchant tried.
