<HTML>I enjoyed following the thread of the views exchanged regarding the \"finding\" of the \"U-Boat commanders ring\" and the U-boat leathers from EBAY.
I thought that leathers came from the lost propety section of a now closed 1970\'s disco. I for one will not be waring them whilst watching \"Das Boot\".
That comment from that vendor , well it said eveything.
The Ring interesting and the thread of research and views from knowledgable contributors showed it up for what it is a money making enterprise.
I saw a perhaps similar ploy on EBAY. The vendor was selling a close combat clasp, a wound badge in black , a winter war medal and half of a Waffen S.S. mans I.D. disc which was reported to have been recovered from the body of a recently unearthed body on the Seelow Heights.
The vendor said the poor mans body could not be identified - I thought that was that the disc would do ?
I did not believe the tale and even if it were true I do not hold with what amounts to grave robbing same thing goes with the ring.(If indeed both cases are true !)
Rainer was quite right its a means to get cash nothing else.
Thank you gentlemen for the benefit of your knowledge - one of the best threds of discusion I have see so far.
Best regards to all concerned.</HTML>
