According to the BdU files on the 23.12.41 U 84 & U 108 were directed to assist a German tanker that had been bombed & damaged at 1148 in BE 6994, then later U 571 was deemed to be nearer. What was the name of the tanker and where had she sailed from, alone so late in the war??
