<HTML>Hi Kameraden!
Thank you again for your replies!
Rainer, your reply has reminded me that honor is something held in the highest position for a military officer, and he can well die to defend it. However, the case of Rennekamp is still a tragedy as well as a great loss to the Kriegsmarine and to Germany at that time.
Joe, I know I have brought up a topic that is case sensitive, but I¡¯ve asked it in a serious manner, and I¡¯m in no way trying to stain the honor of Kriegsmarine (Ubootwaffe) which I hold in high esteem.
Andrew, though you haven¡¯t post your second reply on the forum, still thank you for your info! You¡¯ve been very helpful!
MPC, thank you for your support and understanding! As I said, I know this is case sensitive, but I meant no offence at all, rather I just want to make things clear. Actually Andrew¡¯s second reply has pointed out a very interesting thing here: Franzke joined the Kriegsmarine in 1927, and he made the dishonorable ¡°attempts¡± in 1940--13 years after he joined the Kriegsmarine! It may be quite possible that he developed such inclination DURING his stay in the Kriegsmarine.
Best regards,
Ying
