Living in the most commercialized and prosperous city in China, I encounter everyday people who are rich in material life but poor in spiritual life. This is a decadent era where everything is money or power-oriented without proper moral code. I\'m really sorry to see all these. However, even though we, with our limited influence, may not change the society, as long as we maintain our own honor and pride, the day will finally come when, as you said, \"the pendulum of time eventually will swing the other way\".
I haven\'t ignored the honor of civilians with my post regarding the honor of military officers, I just think that it\'s a different kind. If a civilian meets the same thing Kkpt.Rennenkamp has experienced, he may well stand up and defend himself in the court. His honor and reputation will be saved in that way rather than committing suicide. I may understand the extreme measures taken by Kkpt.Rennenkamp, however, what if others think that he committed suicide to escape punishment? Wouldn\' t that do greater harm to his honor and that of his family? I guess Kkpt.Rennenkamp would much prefer to die for his fatherland rather than die with such grievance, but he had no other choices then as a military officer. Then wouldn\'t it be too easy to frame up an innocent person? (I don\'t mean that the orderly meant to frame Kkpt.Rennenkamp, however, what if someone did have the intention?)
