Homosexuality!

<HTML>Hi Kameraden!
What an unexpected inside story I\'ve got here!!! Never before have I thought that there would be homosexual cases in the Kriegsmarine, esp. in the Ubootwaffe, though homosexuality seems to be almost \"unavoidable\" in the navy.
Andrew, thanks for recounting the incident! However, now I have even more questions!
1. Before one is recruited by the Kriegsmarine (Ubootwaffe), was there any investigation on the sexual-orientation of this person? Homosexuality in such a confined space as a uboat is really \"dangerous\".
2. Franzke was punished for \"attempted homosexual activities with some of his men\", which means he didn\'t REALLY have such activities. Was he really a gay or he was also wronged like the sad case of Kkpt.Rennenkamp? Was his attempt made during a patrol or on land? (I know this makes no difference with regard to Nazi beliefs, however, personally I think the former is intolerable while the latter is somewhat forgivable)
3. Is the incident of Franzke the only one of this nature in the Kriegsmarine (Ubootwaffe)?
4. MPC (also thank you for your input! ), as you said that you were told of the incident \"by a U-boat \'ace\'\", were there any comments on the incident by the \"ace\" or any other uboat men? Do they also think, similar to the Nazi belief, that homosexuality is intolerable?
5. Rainer, I really feel sorry for Kkpt.Rennenkamp. Such a dishonorable death is so unfair to an excellent officer and gentleman! However, as his behavior is obviously unintentional, he could have defended himself for the accusation made by the orderly. Moreover, as there were \"a bunch of officers\" present, they may well testify his innocence, why did he take such extreme measure as to end his life?! I\'m really confused.
I truly looking forward to another round of input from you all! )
Have fun,
Ying
