<HTML>thanx again for all replies.

ok so i\'ve accepted that the guns were submersed when needs be and were instantly available for action\'but how???

metals and seawater don\'t mix well.
and guns and water especially don\'t.
the barrels being wet is not a problem\'and would probably contribute a colling action for the first few rounds fired.

water in the firing and trigger mechanisms still confuses me and also the guns general resistance to seawater corrosion.

thanx again

Hy,

i founded a 37mm gun (i d\\\'not know if it is a gun of submarine or boat) in front of Saint-Jean-de-Luz (France). the top of the gun was again protected by a cap of strong cloth greased (in good state !); i think that a piece of wood was present behind the cloth to close and protect the orifice of the gun.

so long, Eric DUPRE</HTML>
