<HTML>Yes, you\'re right. Only definitive artifacts will close the story. Everyone said it was impossible that the boat off New Jersey could be the U-869, too. But an unusual twist of events had occured during the war, and sure enough....it was the 869.
I doubt anything too large can be recovered from this boat off Cape Cod. But if it took 6 years of diving on the 869 to solve the mystery (and 3 lives), I guess we must be patient. First they found the knife, then a schematic, and finally the spare part box yielded up a piece with identification.
Personally, I love a good mystery, too...!
