The beatings of the crew of U-546

U-546 (Kapitanleutnant Just) was suspected along with other U-Boats to be planning a V1 Rocket attack on The United States.

This is a paragraph from the book u-boats destroyed.

\"However on being landed at Newfoundland\' 8 of the crew including Just were placed in solitary confinement and treated as military prisoners rather than POWS.
They were then subjected to a rigorour exercise routine and repeated beatings to extract information about the V1 strike(which the unfoftunate U-Boat men new nothing about) \"

These beatings continued even when the prisoners were moved to another location after the captain of the USS Varian complained and only stopped after VE Day
