<HTML>In Germany the decimal point is a comma; ie, their 67,10 meters is 67.1 meters in US and also is 67 meters and 10 centimeters (or 100 millimeters, or 1 decimeter). A meter is 39.37 inches, 3.28 feet or 1.093 yards; therefore 67,10 meters = 220.08 feet (or 73.34 yards). Ten thousand, five hundred and fifty three Deutschmarks and twenty-two pfennigs would be expressed as DM 10.553,22; the dot is used to separate hundreds from thousands, etc. like commas are used in the USA (and numerous other countries). I hope this clarifies any questions regarding the decimal point (period or comma).
When using billion and higher numbers there are differences in the powers of 10.
Another interesting difference: A German billion is a million millions; a millarde is like the US billion, ie, a thousand millions. This difference may longer be the case?
