<HTML>A disadvantage of the American 688 boats is that they are a single hull design with only 10% positive boyancy. The Kursk is a double hull design with more like 30 to 40% boyancy. If an American sub had rammed the Kursk hard enough to sink it, its wreck would lie beside the Kursk.</HTML>
