<HTML>Andrew,
Random facts about the sinking:
1. HMS Britannia sank in either \"nearly three hours\" (Michael Wilson and Paul Kemp \"Mediterranean Submarines\") or 3 1/2 hours (Conway\'s). Apparently, when Kukat raised his periscope to see the results of his two torpedo hits, he was promptly shelled by the pre-Dreadnought\'s secondary battery.
2. Several casaulties on Britannia were caused by toxic smoke.
3. UB50 was returning to Germany from the Med at the time of the attack.
4. UB50 became a British war reporation and was broken up in 1922. She was built by Blohm & Voss in Hamburg.
5. Kukat\'s first name was Heinrich.
