ken, re your specific interest in u-126. i checked out this boat and its first skipper ernst bauer. a very successful combo to say the least. "dwarf" bauer was awarded the knights cross march 16 1942 and he and his crew accounted for 24 ships sunk for 108,513 tons. he survived the war and headed out on that final patrol on 12 march 1988. the point raised re scarce photo's seems to extend to mentions in print as well. i have checked my fairly extensive collection of data but find little or no info. strange considering thier success, or am i missing something? p.s. could i please ask what sparked your interest in u-126. thanks.
