<HTML>Hold the presses!!
In Erich Topp\'s \"Odyssey of a U-boat Commander,\" I also see several index references to Paris.
page 3---Topp had to go to Paris to explain the sinking of USS Reuben James to Admiral Doenitz.....(but where exactly???)
page 81---Sometime after Christmas 41, Topp and others dined after-hours at Sheherazade...a memorial dinner for the recently fallen Endrass
page 85---France Hartenstein, after a successful patrol, is loaned Doenitz\'s private car to do some sight-seeing in Paris (fall, 1942)
page 113---Topp talks of a Russian woman he met at rue de Liege, at the Sheherezade (summer 45)
page 141---a discussion of Marie Antoinette, an incident that took place in Paris, of course, long, long before WWII
page 184---a referenceto a post-war meeting in Paris
So it would seem, from these quick glances, the nightclub Sheherazade is big. As well as the fact that Doenitz had a HQ there in Paris somewhere.....
best,
