On 16/2/42 U-156 was attacked by a A 20 of the 59th Bomber squadron{USAF]After dark she returned to bombard the Shell Lago oil terminal.The Tampon was not removed from the gun,and the 2 WO was seriously wounded and one crewman killed.The officer was put ashore at Fort de France, Martinique, on the 18th.On the 20th she sank the SS Delplata W of Martinique.On the 25th she attacked and sank the tanker SS Le Carriere, S of Puerto Rico.Two ships were later sank by gunfire off Cabrera Dominican Republic., on the 28th.U-156 was the first of the Neuland boats to return to Lorient 17/3/42.
