Dear Peter, my cousin Drew Burnside just forwarded a u-tube video of the wreck of the ship my father served and went down with. If you are in any way responsible for the making of the video I would like to thankyou from the bottom of my heart as I have had a big open hole in my life left by the loss of my Dad. I was only 5 1/2 when the ship was lost and it now lies almost on the same latitude where we lived and maybe only about 70 odd miles west as the crow flies from his home(Kilmarnock Scotland).
I see that there may be some damage from depth charges on the wreck but it would be nice to know if you or your team saw anything that would indicate how she came to sink. The board of inquiry was unclear and speculation was that it could have been a mine or torpedo but again would a U-boat waste an expensive torpedo on such a small ship when it could easily have sunk her with her deck gun.
If you have any more info you could share it would appreciated.
