<HTML>I think what you are saying is that a Japanese boat commander would see more honor (glory?) in sinking a warship, preferably a captial ship, than a merchantman, because of the greater contribution to the war effort this individual effort would make.

I think we can say that all sub commanders of all nations share this view of honor!</HTML>
