I last corresponded with Noel Hilliam about this in November 2008, but he advised me it was in 40 feet of water. The stern appears buried in a sand bar.
Noel had this to say:
"we are trying to get long term weather forecast for next years expedition –you may not know the Tasman sea -- it is not a very nice place –you can plan ahead but it is not till the day when tide and weather conditions permit --my family fly into Whangarei from down your way about 2.5 hours all up -- then we pick up another hour over here to beach-- have you ever dived in rip tide surf conditions –its like being in washing machine -- with life line on two of us had line part on another wreck -- arrived 2 hours later up beach 3 k away-- go with current -- could not see cliff line -- main thing stay a float"
