It's incredible how many U-boot clocks there seem to be floating around (pardon the pun). There was recently one being auctioned on eBay; the problem was that it wasn't a U-boot clock but a engine room clock probably taken from a Kriegsmarine destroyer.

Compounding the problem with some these claimed U-boot clocks is that certain Kriegsmarine wall clocks were commonly used on all types of ships - including U-boots - which makes proving their authenticity very difficult.

Just how many real U-boot clocks are still in existence? Consider the total amound of U-boots built and subtract from that the large number that were sunk or scuttled - then factor in how many clocks could have been salavaged from the rest - and finally - work into that total how many of those clocks might have survived over the past 65 years. I'll think you'll find that authentic U-boot clocks are a very rare commodity.

For those of you that pop up here on occasion wanting more information on YOUR U-boot clock, I'd strongly suggest emailing several detailed photos of it to one of us with some knowledge on the subject. At the very least we could at least be able to identify if the clock you have is one that MIGHT have actually been fitted to a U-boot.
