MY DAD WAS ONE F THE SURVIVORS FROM THE SS LAPWING, MY FAMILY AND I VISITED CLIFFDEN AND ALSO WALKED AROUND THE CHURCH WHERE THE PHILLIPINO SEAMAN IS BURIED. I HAVE AN ACCOUNT OF WHAT HAPPENED WRITTEN BY MY DAD AND A COPY OF THE NAVIGATION TO REACH IRELAND BY CAPTAN KLEMP, THERE IS A COPY OF THIS ACCOUNT IN THE LIBRARY IN DUBLIN. ALL THE SURVIVORS WHERE TREATED TO TEA AND BISCUITS BY THE McNAMARA FAMILY WHO LIVE IN CLIFFDEN AND WHO OWN THE COTTAGE WHERE ALL THE SEAMEN STAYED AFTER THEY WHER PICKED UP. A LOVELY FAMILY TO WHOM I WILL ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL. MY DADS NAME WAS THOMAS CAMPBELL WHO WAS JUST 17 YEARS OLD AT THE TIME.
