The answer is still the same: No U-boats were operating that far west at that time, so there are no U-boat claims for PROTEUS and NEREUS.
Most likely cause for the loss of both vessels is a marine accident, apparently breaking up in stormy weather due to their age and poor construction when underway with a heavy cargo of bauxite.
