Agreed up to a point. I have Vols I & II of this publication myself and find them very useful. However, they only show the boundaries of British minefields and the number and types of mine laid in each field by surface units, aircraft and submarines using the rudimentary navigation methods available at the time. With specific regard to the original post, one couldn't rely on mining records for the accurate positions and status of individual mines, particularly after years of war, timed self-sterilisation (not to mention technical failures) and the ravages of nature.
