<HTML>Dear Superkraut,
your essays are really entertaining.
Stalingrad battle cost 200.000 German lives and one million Russian ones and is regarded as a Soviet victory. Kursk took 50.000 lives against 250.000 and is regarded as a Soviet (or Russian) success, the U-boat fleet destroyed nearly 15 millions tons of shipping hardware spending 30.000 men but missed its strategical goal.
Basically Germany & Japan were at war against the rest of the planet and they did not have an atomic industry, so they did not have a chance.
Sometimes I am tempted to re-write the famous Von Clausewitz \' statement as follows: war is the continuation of economic action with different rules.
Greetings
walter M.
