<HTML>Hi!
Germany was the first country, who begin to work above the nuclear
weapon at a state level. In the spring of 1939 the professor of the
Hamburg University P. Gartek has written the letter in the Military
Ministry of Germany, where has proved an opportunity of use of nuclear
explosive substance in the military purposes. In autumn of 1939 in
Germany opens the Uranium Society, where have come outstanding
scientific Haizemberg, Gartek, Hertz, Bote, Waitszekker and others. The
program of nuclear researches was authorized by Government and had
support of a military management.
After capture of Belgium in hands of the German scientists has appeared
over thousand tons of a uranium concentrate, that corresponded to
approximately half of all world stocks. Under a management Haisenberg
the firm \"Atz Ergotzlich\" has constructed research reactor, the experiments on which have shown an opportunity of occurrence of chain reaction. In 1940 Waitszekker with the help of accounts has established, that in reactor from a heavy isotope of uranium the new element - Plutonium, will turn out more suitable as a stuffing for a bomb, rather than Uranium-235. Thus Germany has outstripped all countries in development of the nuclear weapon.
But the Germans have not begun creation of a nuclear bomb. In 1942 the nuclear program of Germany was frozen. About the reasons of such decision Speer, the Minister of arms of the Third Reich, recollected so:
\"In the Autumn of 1942 I once again have asked ôèçèêîâ-ÿäåðùèêîâ about possible terms of creation of a nuclear bomb and, having learned, that is required three or four years, has ordered to stop all works in this direction. You see then the war will be finished, or its outcome will be already finally predetermined. But I have solved to carry out development uranium reactor for allocation of energy of the certain type. It should be used on the equipment intended for the naval ships\"
The given decision the Hitler has supported, but has solved to finance only those scientific projects, which promised immediate feedback, therefore it has put a cross on the nuclear program of Germany having certain prospects. That the German scientists could achieve success confirms the stenogram of secret listening, unsecreted in 1992, of conversations of the German scientists appeared after war in the British captivity and containing in camp a Farm hall near Cambridge. From it follows, that when they have learned about creation of the
American nuclear bomb, during conversations have made the assumption,
that Germany could make a bomb before the Allies, if the necessary
material resources were allocated. The similar point of view states in the memoirs of Speer.
