<HTML>The engine of the V-1 is properly known as a pulse detonation engine, or pulse jet.

It is not a ramjet. A ramjet is an engine that compresses the incoming air solely through the velocity of its forward motion. They operate continously, unlike the V-1\'s pulse jet. A ramjet can operate only at supersonic speeds. They were not fielded till after WWII.
