Hello Jane,
As far as I can tell, your father carried out only one special operation from Trincomalee when he was in commnand of HMS TERRAPIN and this was not of the "Cloak and Dagger" type but to act as a beacon and also air/sea rescue duties following raids by B-29 bombers of the USAAF on Palembang (operation BOOMERANG on 9-11 August 1944).
You might try the "Allies" section on this site for more information, under "Allied Warship Commanders" you should find the submarines on which your father served. The TERRAPIN page has not been updated but you may find other useful information.
British submarines carried out approximately 58 special operations from Trincomalee and many more from other ports.
You may find the book "Operations Most Secret" by Ian Trenownden of interest as it focuses on SOE operations in the Malayan Theatre.
