On 4 June 1943, no German U-boats are known to have operated in the Western Mediterranean. However, I don't have data about the whereabouts of the Italian submarines.

Have you tried to find the action report or is the war diary of 345th FS/350th FG available? It would be easier for us if we knew the exact date and position of this incident.

Maybe the guys over in the 12 o'clock forum have access to such data or know how to get it: [forum.12oclockhigh.net]
